I like the idea that there is substance everwhere, even in darkness. When the sun goes down we undergo such a decrease in visual sensation that some of us experience fear because those things we normally see with great clarity in the light are now obscured by night's deep shadows. But, they're still there, still existing, perhaps with more beauty than in the day.
These pictures are an expression of survival when all around us is gloom. They were made in the middle of the night in the spring of 2007, when the buds of May were just beginning to blush. |
